In the past
we have scored all products in 4 categories (Appearance, Design, Performance,
and Price) on a scale of 1-100. From those scores we created an overall
score for every product. Products that had an Overall Score over 90 were
then considered for Editor's Choice awards.
For reference,
here are the guidleines we have used for the scoring:
95-100 -->Would
tell everyone you know to buy it now!
90-94 --> Excellent product. Would recommend without second thought.
80-89 --> Very good product. Would recommend in most cases.
70-79 --> Good product. Might not recommend, but wouldn’t slam
either.
60-69 --> Might try to convince people to buy something else.
50-59 --> Would no recommend, and would vocally suggest against it
30-49 --> Would physically stop someone from buying this product. Kinda
like AOL.
0 – 29 --> A complete and total waste of resources. Even worse
then AOL CDs.
As of January
19th, 2004 we are not using that method anymore.
Now we are
simply telling you if the product is A Pile of Dog Poo, GruntvillE SatisfactorY,
GruntvillE ApproveD, or GruntvillE ReccomendeD. In addition it can also
earn Editor's Choice and/or King of the Hill.
To help you
with the transition, here is how the old scores relate to the new rankings:
