When contemplating water cooling systems PC enthusiasts go great lengths to determine what parts they are going to use. Reading reviews and scouring forums for the best CPU block or Radiator or Pump. They spend hours agonizing over the perfect reservoir, searching websites for fan shrouds that are just right, and then try to figure out how to cram all of that into a case. But there is one thing that always seems to be an afterthought. One part that is the last one they look for, and buy whatever is cheapest, and that is the tubing.
I mean, after all, all tubing is the same right? It is just a conduit for the water. The only requirement is that it doesn't leak. How much thought and research do I have to put into that. I can just run down to the local hardware store and pick up some vinyl tubing that is the right size, and away we go.
If that is how you feel about the tubing, then I have some shocking news. You are wrong. There are many different kinds of tubing and all have their pros and cons. Historically, as far as water cooling goes, there have been 2 brands of tubing that are most common; Tygon R-3603 and ClearFlex-60. Within the last year a new player, Primochill, has joined the fray, with the PrimoFlex tubing. It is this newcomer that we will be focusing on today.
