Reservoirs come in all shapes and sizes. In the past, we have looked at
the “tall cylinder” style, the Innovatek Tank-O-Matic, as
well as the “small cylinder” style, the Aqua Computing Aquatube.
Today we will look at the “bayres” style. The “bayres”,
which is a reservoir that fits into one (or more) of the drive bays in
your system, has become very popular. When used with some water dye and
lighting they can provide a dramatic addition to any water-cooled system.
We are going
to look at what is by far one of the biggest reservoirs on the market
today, the PrimoChill Dual Bay Reservoir. This monster takes up 2 5.25”
drive bays in your case and has 4 inflow and 2 outflow ports as well as
a top fill cap. This configuration allows for numerous different configurations
that can satisfy any extreme water cooling fanatics desires.
Before we
get into the details, let’s get one thing straight. You do not NEED
to have a reservoir in a water-cooled system. It is not a requirement.
A simple fill and bleed kit will do the trick as well as take up a lot
less space. That being said, having a reservoir makes filling and bleeding
the system much easier, allows you to have more water in the system which
can improve the cooling, and it simply looks cool.
PrimoChill
is a relative new-comer to the cooling market, but don’t let that
fool you. They are owned by and work closely with the folks at VoyuerMods.
Primochill has the benefit of all the experience VoyuerMods has in the
cooling and modding market. They have released versions of their Bay Reservoir
in single and dual bay for 5.25” bays and as a dual 3.5” bay
reservoir.
So let’s
take a dive in and see what we got.
