Danger Den Maze 4 vs D-Tek Whitewater |

| Introduction |
|
The battles
between Danger Den and D-Tek seem endless. Ever since I became interested
in water cooling I’ve been checking up on both of these guys. In
fact, my first system had components from both of the makers. Swiftech
has also been bashing elbows with these two in what seems to be a game
of King of the Hill for the water cooling business. Now bring in companies
like PolarFlo and Innovatech and you’ve got quite a battle. Innovatech
hasn’t made it into the realm of Super High-Performance yet but
with the R&D they have shown in the past it shouldn’t be much
longer. We recently reviewed the PolarFlo and compared it to the White
Water and MCW5002 and the PolarFlo ended up taking the KOTH award for
the extras it offers. The WW and PF were both on par with cooling and
shot out pretty even scores but the PolarFlo allows the buyer to choose
between various anodized finishes and even chrome and gold plating thus
giving it the edge. The finish on the base of the PolarFlo was absolutely
beautiful and the WW was almost horrible and yet the performance was almost
identical. With that in mind, if the powers at D-Tek saw the review then
we’re sure to expect some better finishes on future units.

Well now that we know how the others stacked up against one another we knew
it was time to take a peek at Danger Den’s Top of the Line and compare
it to one of the leaders from the last shoot-out. Since I couldn’t
break DickNervous’ grip on the PolarFlo to add it to the AMD shoot-out
we’ll be using the White Water to compare to the Maze 4. Both of these
blocks are absolutely gorgeous when fitted with the poly top and as you
can guess with the modder in me, that’s what we’ll be using.

Now we also know that the US is not the only big market for water cooling.
The U.K. and AU. are both power houses in the industry. Unfortunately, some
of these products are hard or expensive to come by in the US, but we promise
we’ll be doing our best to get some of them in. I also want to send
big thanks out to Cooltechnica
for sending us these two beautiful blocks for this shootout. |
