After a bit of miscommunication and shipping delays most of the parts
of the Cape kit were in hand. We say most because while the Cape kits
include 2 Pabst 4412 F2/GL 120mm fans as well as some Tec-Protect-Plus
water additive, our shipment did not. However, we simply used some Redline
Water Wetter and 2 Enermax 120mm fans for the testing.
Our kit
did not come in a “retail ready” package due to
the fact that we received it just when Alphacool had announced it, however
it did arrive neatly packed in bubble wrap to protect the finishes and
everything was in order.
Let’s
take a look at what you get when you purchase the Cape Blue Kit CPU
Dual HTF 2.0 Rad kit…
The set consists of the following components:
1x Watercool HTF 2.0 240mm Dual Radiator,

So let us take a good look at each component of this kit.

Cape Corp KC42-X2 Pro Blue: The
Cape CPU cooler is a very interesting design. Utilizing a pyramid shaped
copper base inside an aluminum silo that has 2 threaded holes for your
hose connectors. Looking inside the cooler you can see the copper “steps”.
This is a different design philosophy then what we have been seeing recently
with thin copper bases with pins, grooves, and other items to cause turbulence.
With the Cape design, the copper in the center is fairly thick. Here
are the tech specs on the Cape Cooler :
|
Technical data:
Dimensions (LxWxH): 43x43x37mm
Weight incl. holders and connections: approximately 239gr;
Case Material: Aluminum T6, blue anodized;
Core Material: Copper, glass bead blasted;
Connections: G1/4" at buyer's option;
|
The Cape is mounted to the motherboard via a plexiglass holder and
uses mounting screws and springs. The plexiglass holder is a separate
piece, and therefore allows for multiple mounting options by simply changing
the mounting plate.
One of the interesting features of the Cape coolers is that they are
available in 4 colors; Blue, Red, Natural (shiny, chrome finish), and
Plexi.

Watercool HTF 2.0 240mm Dual Radiator: As you can
tell from the name, this is the dual 120mm fan radiator. Here are the
tech spec from the Alphacool website |
- a very powerful
design with large surface (20 pipe ranges, over 6m long altogether)
- parallel through-flowed pipe ranges for reduced stream waste
- Turbo lamellae for optimal heat dissipation
- air-antechamber for uniform pressure build-up
- optimised for slow rotating 120mm fans
- fan mounting by means of in-ground screw thread
- integrated screw thread laterally for the trouble-free installation in/at
the case
- materials: copper, aluminium, stainless steel
- G 1/4 screw thread couplings for trouble-free mounting of all connecting
systems
- tough powder coating
Material: Pipes copper, Lamellae aluminium, case stainless steel ground
Dimensions (L x W x H) mm: 293 x 138 x 60
Mounting possibility: 8x M4 screw thread at the top (for 2x 120mm fan)
8x drill holes below (for 2x 120mm fan)
4x M4 screw thread sideways (for the installation in the case)
Pressure tested: 30 bar
Surface: stainless steel, ground
Connection: 2x screw thread G 1/4 inches
|
Needless to say, this is a big radiator. At the same time, next to
the Chrome plated Black Ice Extreme, this is hands down one of the best
looking radiators we have seen come through GruntvillE.

Alphacool AP700 Centrifugal pump 12v: The kit includes
a small, quiet 12v pump. Here are the specs for it direct from the Alphacool
site:
The pump
can be connected directly to the network-part of the PC. The pump is
turned on and off automatically with the PC. This centrifugal pump
is made for the uncompromising duration-use. The pump comes to you
with 36 months guarantee. It is delivered with G1/4" inside-screw
thread. Input under duration-use is 10 watt.

Powered by OASE !
Technical data:
Pump-performance: 720 lt/h
Hoisting Depth: 1,5m
Dimensions: (LxWxH) 115x105x55mm
Power Consumption: 8W
Connection: G1/4"-screw thread
Connection data: 12V, direct current, also adjustable from 6V up to12V
Connection cable with power supply unit approx. 50cm
Sound intensity: approx. 19dBA (comparable with a Eheim 1046)
Weight: approx. 590gr
|
To translate this even more, 720 lt/h is about 190 gallons per hour.
Hoisting Depth of 1.5m gives this pump a head of approximately 4.5 feet,
and 590 grams is about 20 ounces, or 1.25lbs.

Cape
AGB2 Natural Reservoir: The last major piece of the kit is the reservoir.
In similar fashion to the Aquatube we looked at previously the Cape
reservoir looks amazing, but is small compared to most reservoirs available
here in the states. Here are the specs:
The Cape
Corp AGB2 compensating reservoir serves to fill and aspirate a water
cooling system. It is placed inside or outside the case and it is provided
with a water reservoir, from where the pump can absorb alsolutely free
of blow holes. The water cooling system will be filled after the mounting
through the filling hole at the upper side. (oil inspection glass cover).
Through the 1/4" screw thread, it is fitted with other different
connections and thus it can be variably combined with different hose
diameters.
|
Technical data:
Weight: 450 g
Material: aluminium polished, cover oil inspection glass
Size (without pump) (LxWxH): 50x116mm
Connections: 2xG1/4"
|
We were also sent 8mm chrome compressions fittings for all parts
along with 3m of 8mm clear hose to complete the kit. In addition to the
kit we were sent some UV reactive 8mm hose and their top of the line
CPU cooler, the Alphacool NexXxos HP Pro. Here are the specs for the
NexXxos HP:
|
|
New copper
cooler with parallel-processing channels in the PCF(c) design, these
channels are together uprightly milled, through them the surface for
the heat dissipation is radically increased. The cross-channels are
glass-beaded, in order to increase the surface once again. This allows
a stable operation at extreme summer temperatures, highest Overclocking
- potential and low noise at a time. This cooler is conceived for the
highest expectations. The bearing area of the cooler is planar and
polished. The sealing between Plexiglas and copper cooling elements
succeeds via a durable O-ring. The Plexiglas cover has 17 nozzles with
1,2mm diameter, in order to distribute the water through the channels
more efficiently. The mounting succeeds via the mounting drill holes
with screws and springs, which are normally available at IntelMainboards.
The mounting components are made of stainless steel. For the mounting,
the mainboard must be correspondingly dismantled. The G1/8" connections
are conceived for all connecting systems.
|
Technical data:
Overall dimensions (without connections): Length 86mm, Width 69mm, Height 13mm
Weight: approx. 130gr.
Material: copper, Plexiglas
Mounting: 4-hole mounting
|
The top of the NexXxos HP cooler is clear plexiglass and is available
in AMD and Intel mounting versions.
Enough of
this dry technical specifications, let’s go on and
see how this kit installs and performs!
