You might have noticed
that we at GruntvillE talk a lot about keeping your system cool. We have
reviewed a fair number of heatsinks, looked at case fans of different
types and even in our case reviews, talk about the cooling situation.
It should be obvious that we take cooling seriously. We’ve reviewed
a pump water blocks and reservoir that are used in water cooling setups
and a peltier for extreme cooling. However, as much as I am shamed to
admit it, we have been lax in our duties to you, our readers, when it
comes to cooling. You see, we have never reviewed a water cooling kit.
A water cooling kit
is, just like it sounds, a complete water cooling setup in a box. This
includes a pump, water block for the CPU, radiator, fan, and associated
hoses and clamps. These kits are available from the major water cooling
manufactures such as Swiftech and Innovatek, but they’re very expensive
coming in at over $250. Recently there’s been an influx of entry-level
water cooling setups that allow you to get in the water cooling game for
less dough, a lot less.
So today, we’ll
be presenting a GruntvillE first, a review of a water cooling kit, and
telling you whether or not you can really get into water cooling on a
budget by looking long and hard are the Ahanix Iceberg II Water Cooling
Kit. As the name suggests, this is Ahanix’ second go around with
water cooling kits, and they’ve put it together for an attractive
price of about $95.
