You may remember a few months back when we showed you the ins and outs of hottest new display by Matrix Orbital. Well, we’re back again! Today, Henry’s let us tinker around with the awesome new MX212! “Now hold on a minute, isn’t that the same display you reviewed last time?” Well, yes and no; the display is always being constantly upgraded and its all ready for its next big release. Henry from Matrix Orbital and Matt from LCDC have been semi-secretly working to make their two products more seamless than we ever would have imagined a year ago. If you thought the automatic display detection and general ease of use of the last joint venture was as good as it gets, you’ve got quite a treat coming! The newest version of LCDC 1.05 is required in order to use the new features built onto the MX212. As with the current Displays, this will be included with the display when purchased. The total package should include:

• 1x LCD in bay insert
• 1x 3ft USB cable attached to LCD
• 1x eCD (with a LCDC key on top)
• 4x screws (they will be attached to the bay insert)

Looking head on at the display you can see not much has changed with the overall looks of the unit. At first glance this display could easily be mistaken for just about any of the dozens of Matrix Orbital models. It’s when you get around to the back that the difference becomes blatantly obvious.

Notice anything different? If you’ve just screamed “OH NO HE’S TAKEN OFF ALL THE GPO’S!” then your halfway correct. They’ve actually undergone quite an exciting evolution. Growing from the old low power GPO’s up through the High power GPO’s, they’ve now matured into the Advanced General Purpose Outputs; and that’s only half the fun. Adding a whole new level to the display is the addition of four temperature probe inputs. I bet you’re just bouncing off the walls aren’t you? Well calm down a bit and we’ll delve a little deeper into these new features
