Specifications and Features |
So here are the specs of this new giant. Some of the more astute readers
may notice that these are extremely similar to the Everglide Giganta V3
that I reviewed back in August. In fact the only difference is that the
fuZe is 1/8th thinner and has a full Non-Skid Rubber Backing rather than
the five little feet on the Giganta. Seeing as these two are so similar
you’ll notice me comparing the two throughout this review.

Again, as you can see at first glance the board is identical to the Giganta.
Upon flipping it over however you’ll notice the wonderful full backing
of rubber that keeps this little beast in place. To quote myself from another
mousing surface review “If there’s one thing that annoys me,
it’s a mousing surface that thinks it’s a mouse; the last thing
I want it doing is moving.” Once again Everglide has seen to it that
this little bugger won’t be scooting all over your work surface with
you.

When it came down to comparing the textures between the Giganta and the
fuZe I was quite surprised. Although the texture pattern hasn’t changed
between the two models, the fuZe’s texture felt much finer. I can
only liken the feeling to that of fresh laid asphalt. Now I don’t
want any of you running out to your nearest construction site and groping
the roads, just trust me on this one. Just to make sure the texture hadn’t
undergone any changes I inlaid a square of texture from one pad onto the
other in Photoshop to compare the two. As you can see it disappears into
the other pad like magic, so it can’t be that much different. Now
one thing I have noticed is that when comparing the two, the fuZe pad is
much flatter than its predecessor the Giganta. I can only attribute this
to the new full backing on the fuZe. The combination of Polystyrene (a pliable
synthetic), individually spaced feet, and the generally warmer than usual
temperature of a computer room may contribute the Giganta sagging slightly
between the feet. With the elimination of the individual feet on the fuZe,
the problem seems to have disappeared entirely. In the above pictures you
can also see the slight decrease in height of the fuZe. Not only is this
a little more comfortable but it should also help those with carpal tunnel. |
