HTPC (Home Theater PC). The mere mention of the culmination of the convergence of computers and home entertainment can make some people twitch with giddy joy, or hideous fear. The thought of putting a big ugly beige box in the entertainment center would make most of our significant others cringe. Well, we took care of that when I reviewed the two Antec cases, Minuet and Overture. And if you recall, the Minute requires a mini-ATX board.

In my quest for a MB that could fit in a small computer case and still provide a lot of power to do the different things that it might be called upon to do. I looked at the VIA EPIA line of mini ATX boards but in the end I seriously wanted whatever I chose to be more main stream, have a lot of performance and upgrading options. GruntmaN got with Chaintech and they recommended their Nforce2 based 7NIF2 mini-ATX Mother Board. I will take a look and see if its performance matches up to its larger brethren, the 7NJS Ultra that Bellerophon reviewed earlier this year. We’ll be testing this board as a normal PC as well as taking it through the chores of HTPC duty as that is our future intent with this board.
