With
the incredible sleeving
guide Hobbes brought us, we felt it was time to take a look
at some of the sleeving on the market. As many of you already know,
my most recent mod was polishing up my case. I was looking for something
that would fit the latest theme and came across some chrome sleeving
at SVC and knew it was what I wanted to use. I was curious if it
would actually be as shiny as real chrome since I knew it was on
plastic and was also interested to find out if it would flake off.
Most PSU’s
come with the ATX cables sleeved but leave the rest of them bare.
This has created a whole new section on many of the retailers sites;
a section for pre-modded PSU’s. If you’ve haven't already
read through the sleeving
guide then I guess you better get your butt over there since
I’m going to be skipping the majority of the how too since
I’ll be utilizing the same guide for my sleeving adventure
and constantly referring back to it.
If you’ve
been following case modding and the case mod galleries and forums
then you already know you better not post a pic of a case without
wire management or you’re going to hear about it! The last
thing a modder wants is to hear they slacked off on the rig they
just spent days, weeks or in Hobbes case, YEARS to complete. If
you’re working on a mod right now then you’ve already
sighed over the thought of cable management and the trouble it can
bring. It’s very difficult to get all of those wires hidden
and many times involves soldering and 3-4 packages of zip ties.
Sleeving can certainly help you with your next project and don’t
forget to do all of those splitters too!
