Extreme. Defined by Webster's as “Being in or attaining the greatest or highest degree”. Sure, there are a lot of things these days that are extreme; after all, we've got extreme engineering, extreme sports, and even extreme makeovers. But when was the last time you used the word to describe any portion of your computer hardware? As modders, we know that cases are in a class of their own when it comes to extreme; I'm talking about the working innards such as motherboards, video cards, and memory. Plenty of times you'll find products loaded to the hilt with every bell and whistle imaginable, but does that truly classify as being extreme? If not, what would classify as extreme?
The folks at OCZ believe they have an answer to that question with their introduction of the Voltage eXtreme (VX) line of memory modules. Since their startup in August 2000, OCZ has always kept an eye on the enthusiast market, looking to offer the fastest memory possible, and that is easily recognizable with the VX product line. Besides being made with OCZ's proprietary EL (Enhanced Latency) technology, these modules also boast being able to achieve 2-2-2-8 latency speeds at 3.2V. If that's not enough, these modules can even accommodate up to 3.5V without invalidating the Lifetime Warranty for those enthusiasts looking to crunch out every ounce of performance possible.
Would you believe this is GruntvillE.com's first OCZ memory review ever? To date, we've reviewed memory from 10 different manufacturers and somehow have never always seemed to miss out on OCZ's offerings. As you can imagine, I'm really itching to get this memory installed and see just what OCZ's VX line has to offer. |
