Extreme memory speed… that just sounds cool doesn’t it? It conjures images of F16’s, McLaren F1’s or even a Dodge Tomahawk or two. Of course Corsair isn’t cooking up anything as insane as a 400 MPH motorcycle, but the term “Extreme Memory Speed” or XMS is a pretty good definition of their current commitment to the PC gaming and enthusiasts market. It appears that just a few short months after the release of the Pro series XMS 4000’s that the Corsair folks have raised the stakes even higher by releasing their new flagship modules, the XMS 4400s. According to the Corsair press release these puppies are aimed at the new breed of highly overclockable motherboards and they really ought to be a PC enthusiasts’ fantasy dream date. The twin module packages are advertised to reach a whopping 550MHz. Now I don’t need to tell our hardcore readers out there that these are very impressive claims, but hopefully I can validate them for you. Corsair was kind enough to send us a package of the TwinX1024 modules, and I fully intend to run these beauties thru a barrage of benchmarks to see exactly how well they respond under pressure.
