Installation

I installed the unit on  a P5VDC-MX socket 775 motherboard and installation couldn’t have been easier. The booklet that came with it was well written and consisted of 8 pages of info and that’s just the English side. If you couldn’t figure out how to install it from the manual, Zalman has actually put together a flash movie showing a how to for all four socket types. It can’t get any simpler than that. (Although you do have to have a working second computer if you plan on using the flash animation to show you how.)
Installation on this board was fairly simple. When assembling the pieces, the backplate was attached before the motherboard was installed. Thermal grease was applied to the cpu then the heatsink was simply screwed onto the top bracket. Done. Once the mounting bracket is installed there are only two small screws you have to screw in. It is really very easy.

If you are upgrading to this heatsink then it is possible to remove most of the screws and slide the backplate under but it is difficult. Depending on how you have your fans setup you can install it four different ways. You can have the flow going up, down, left, or right.

I can’t end this section without a shot of the LEDs lit up
