| Installation |
No instructions were provided with the CCFL fan light, but the installation
was not difficult. After removing the CCFL fan light from the packaging
I noticed zip ties at every corner of the fan. They were in the way of where
the screws were going to be placed. I didn’t know what these were
for exactly, so I cut them off. No problems, I think maybe they were left
on in transit from China.

Before installing the CCFL fan light, I decided to try it out. I plugged
the Molex in and switched the CCFL on. WOW, it was so bright. Totally amazing
the amount of light this CCFL fan light gave off. I was excited to get this
CCFL fan light installed when I came to my first problem. I was putting
this CCFL fan in my DeceptiMod, an Antec server case and found that these
CCFL fan lights will NOT fit in the Antec fan brackets. It’s just
not going to happen. I tried different ideas, but there was no way it was
going to be installed in my case. I know this is more of a case issue, since
the brackets are specific to this style of case but it’s important
since many people have cases that utilize this mounting technique.
I couldn’t attach the CCFL fan light to any of my
fans, but I decided to hold it up for comparison. The CCFL fan light is
SO BRIGHT, almost blinding.

The fan I compared it to is an Antec clear blue LED fan, one of the brightest
LED fans out. The Lamps Electronics CCFL fan light put it to shame and made
it difficult to tell it was even on. hehe. One thing noticeable is the gap
between the start and stop of the CCFL. It does NOT completely make a circle.
I am very picky, so this would drive me nuts if it was on the front of my
case.
Another downside is the depth of the color. The CCFL fan
light is very bright, but does lack the deep blue that I desire. It has
a washed out appearance compared to my other Lazer LEDs, Antec blue LED
fans and CCFL’s (which are made by Lamps Electronics).
I liked the brightness of the CCFL and decided to attach
it to the bottom of my PSU over my motherboard. I decided to take before
and after pics for comparison. On the left is BEFORE, and on the right
is AFTER I installed the CCFL fan light on the bottom of the PSU.
