For some modders,
windows aren’t enough. Too much metal left in the way of viewing
their precious computers, they want to see, and show off all of it. Since
carrying the parts around just wired together is not a good option, the
clear acrylic case was born. Cases made of clear acrylic allow you to
see everything because, well, it’s clear? These cases are very popular
and have continued to evolve. Not long after the clear cases were introduced,
there were cases tinted a color, like red, blue, etc. And most recently,
taking that one step further, you have acrylic cases that are tinted with
UV reactive color. Today we will be taking a look at one of these cases
from Xoxide, the Green UV Acrylic Case.
This is the third
acrylic case we’ve had the opportunity to look at and I will be
honest, I was not too impressed with the others. The Beantech is very
nice, possibly one of the best, but in my opinion, it’s a little
plain. The Sunbeam, also nice, but as Bellerophon pointed out in his review,
there were some minor issues with fit and finish that turned me off. So
when GruntmaN asked if I wanted to review one, I honestly did not have
very high expectations.
Another issue I have
with acrylic cases is from the perspective of modding. Many times people
get acrylic cases, put some CCFLs, LED fans, etc in them and think it
is the coolest modded case out there. To me these cases fall under the
pre-mod category. They still need some work to make them truly modded
cases. I will address some things you can do with this case, and other
acrylic cases, here as well.
