The case arrived wrapped in a large plastic bag, suspended between two big pieces of foam for maximum protection; all packaged in a sturdy cardboard box. |
| |
Upon removing the case and the side panel, I found the manual as well as a smaller box containing all the accessories. Kingwin was thoughtful enough to include everything you would need to install your components, and more! |
| |
They included six hard drive rails for installing up to 3 internal drives, a set of two keys (in the off chance you lock one inside the case you have a spare!), a bag of assorted screws and motherboard standoffs, four standard case feet, and even included one (yes, one) 4” cable tie to manage those pesky wires coming from the front panel. They even threw in a bonus “mystery ring!” More on this later. |

Externally, the case is sleek and modern looking. This particular model has a rectangular window with chrome buttons around it. |
| |
The window came with a protective film on both sides to prevent scratching. On the opposite side, you'll find a hidden I/O panel, door lock, and fan speed controller. |
|
The I/O panel consists of a mic and speaker port, two USB ports, and even an SATA port! A nice added feature, no doubt spawning from Kingwin having an entire line of external SATA drives.
The case is made from the usual SECC steel, but with an aluminum front door attached to a plastic front bezel. |
|
The door houses a 12” cold cathode that, when turned on, shows off it's modern beveled design with some elegant back-lighting. The black SK-523 case comes stock with a red CCFL. |
| |
However, it's not a standard cathode, so you can't just switch it out for a different color. You will probably have to contact Kingwin for what's available. |
|
On the right, there is drive bays including the removable side-mounted hard drive cage. |
|
Behind the lower drive cage is the front 120mm intake fan. |
|
On the left, the 120mm exhaust fan and tool-less expansion slots. |
