Skyler Adams has been with GruntvillE
from almost day 1. This lovely young lady started modding her first
case and when she finished she found instant fame among modders everywhere.
The paint was exquisite, the window unique with her proud husbands
name (HevyH2O) laser etched on it and a bold Nuclear theme including
a giant front intake and top blow hole with the nuclear fan grills
being lit from behind with an assortment of lights. She even went
so far as to put a small window on the opposite side and made her
own bay bus and added handles up top. All in all this is one incredible
looking case. Now for the kicker…………..she
modded this case not for herself but for her husband. I realize that
many of you are wishing you to could find that special little lady
that could mod cases all day long for you but don’t count on
it; Sky is definitely one of a kind.
This brassy, sassy, brunette lives down south in Texas. She drives
a brand new Ford F-150 4x4 that sports a lift kit and some monster
tires. She enjoys modding cars as much as computers. She has a whole
home theatre style mod for the truck planned. She also enjoys, like
most modders, a good fragging. She is a proud member of the GruntvillE
L337 clan tagged as =GvL=. You’ll find them mostly on the
team UT2003 servers. The clan participates in the Proving Ground
Ladder Tournaments. You might also find her dropping a bomb on your
tank in Battlefield 1942 in the team server. One of the servers
is sponsored by WickedServers.com,
one of the best game server rental companies around.
Sky and HevyH2O have written quite
a few reviews and How-tos for GruntvillE and even a few for other
sites too. Everyone in the forums loves to hear her rant on about
whatever is tickling her fancy at the moment. She’s always
brainstorming something new to do. Take a look at her current project
in this How-to; http://www.gruntville.com/howtos/windowcutout/index.html.
Sky’s talent is instantly recognized with one
simple look at her cases. So recognizable that she was approached
by the New York Times. They wanted to do an article on case modding
and asked for her input. They published the article quoting her opinions
and posting both a picture of her case and one of her with her case.
She is among other top modders such as Anthony Stanley who placed
first at the Cyberathlete Professional League's Pentium 4 Processor
Winter 2001 event and Marc Weitz who won 2nd place at the CPL Summer
2002 event with his “Alien Head” creation. Make sure to
read the whole article here; http://www.nytimes.com/2002/12/05/technology/circuits/05modd.html.
If you’re not already registered with the NY Times, you’ll
need to fill out some general information before you can view it.
Sky, along with The New York Times have helped spread
the word on modding and overclocking. Just a few short years ago,
case modding was simply painting a case; now you can’t walk
into a PC shop or go to an online store with out seeing some type
of modding or cooling items. It’s now the main stream. Modding
is so main stream now that the “Dude that got a Dell”
regardless of how nice, is somewhat embarrassed to carry it into the
LAN party. One look at any case mod gallery like GruntvillE’s
or our friends over at coolcasegallery.net
that we’re also proud to announce were mentioned in the article
and it’s easy to see why the poor guy that just dropped a few
grand on a system is embarrassed. You’ll see cases like Sky’s
“ChicksCanMod2” case or Mr.
Weitz’s various creations. Mods like these are top notch
and enough to make the majority of us start another one.
Once again, we here at GruntvillE.com just want
to congratulate Sky,
CoolCaseGallery.net
and all the others that were in the article. Congratulations for
your talents being recognized.
Sincerely,
