GruntvillE’s
Sky headed to Dallas last week in an attempt to pick up some great
prizes at the CompUSA sponsored C3 competition. She wanted the GruntvillE
readers that were not fortunate enough to attend this incredible
event to be able to view the entries in all of their glory; including
her own.
CPL as a whole is a world famous event for FPS games with a large
percentage of the gamers being fans of Counter-Strike. An old game
it may be but it offers huge prize money; often found in the $100,000+
area for prizes. With money like this on the line it’s no
wonder why it’s such a popular event.
C3 is an event held at CPL each year. C3 stands for Consummate Computer
Competition. This is the event for casemodders from around the globe.
You’ll see modders that have already had their names etched
in the glory board for modding such as: Crimson Sky, Geezer and
Mashie. These modders keep ideas pouring out twice a year as they
enter both the summer and winter events with new mods each time.
I look forward to seeing each of the new creations and appreciate
them posting progress pics and finals before the events. The anticipation
builds with each new mod posted.
The
anxiety of the competition doesn’t appear to faze any of the
entrants as they have a great community of modders with them. Problems
encountered while at the show are often dealt with by the friendly
snickers which are quickly followed by helping hands. Each modder
there truly wishes the best for his competitors as they’re
friends first and competition second.
